Classic Game Room – MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS for Sega CD review

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Classic Game Room reviews MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS for Sega CD from 1994, a button bushing quicktime event videogame that takes place over full motion video from Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television show. This “live action video adventure” as they call it, it remarkably fun and silly for fans of old-school Power Rangers. In this Power Rangers videogame you push buttons and directions on the Sega Genesis controller in time with events that take place on the screen. Watch the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers defeat evil (if you can keep up with the button prompts) and laugh at the awesome cheesy effects, acting and storyline. This CGR review of the Might Morphin Power Rangers video game has gameplay from Sega CD version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers videogame. Sega CD works with Sega Genesis to deliver full motion video on a tv screen to deliver some awesome Power Rangers gaming. Also known as the Mega CD, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is affordable, fun and rad to the max!

Classic Game Room – FORMULA ONE: BEYOND THE LIMIT for Sega CD review

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Classic Game Room review FORMULA ONE: BEYOND THE LIMIT for Sega CD from 1993 for the Mega CD add on (Sega CD) for Sega Genesis (aka Sega Mega Drive). From Sega Sports and Fuji Television comes this F1 racing game with formula one cars and drivers from the early 1990′s. Good looking visuals are all but ruined with horrendous framerate issues which turns gameplay into a terrible experience. This CGR review of Forumula One Beyond the Limit on Sega CD has gameplay from F1 Beyond the Limit on Sega Megadrive Mega CD showing game play in this driving videogame.

Classic Game Room – JAGUAR XJ220 for Sega CD review

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Classic Game Room reviews JAGUAR XJ220 for Sega CD from 1993, a racing game where you drive the exotic supercar in a variety of races all over the world! The Jaguar XJ-220 was a competing vehicle to the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 (ironically, both of those cars were in Test Drive II The Duel). It may not have sold well due to it’s obscene price tag and sales issues but it does star in its very own video game on the Sega Genesis add-on, the Sega CD (or Mega CD). Jaguar XJ220 is an Out Run style driving game with good controls and excellent 16-bit graphics that, like a real Jaguar, suffers from a few issues that prevent it from being great. Bizarre cornering and bland track design make this game less exciting than it could be yet it remains playable and fun. This CGR review of Jaguar XJ220 for Sega CD has gameplay from Jaguar XJ 220 showing this supercar racing video game play in action.

Classic Game Room – STAR WARS: REBEL ASSAULT for Sega CD review

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Classic Game Room reviews STAR WARS REBEL ASSAULT for Sega CD from Lucas Arts released in 1993. Play as Rookie One and fight with the Alliance against the dreaded Empire in famous scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy. Blow up At-At Imperial Walkers, Tie Fighters and even bullseye womprats in your T-16. Star Wars Rebel Assault is an early game using FMV (Full Motion Video) from the Star Wars movies and even includes new scenes shot specifically for this videogame. Gameplay varies and Star Wars Rebel Assault may be slow and clumsy compared to newer Star Wars games yet it packs a unique charm with some cheesy but entertaining cut scenes and Star Wars style action. This CGR review of Star Wars Rebel Assault from Lucas Arts and JVC has gameplay from Star Wars: Rebel Assault on Sega CD. This game was also sold for PC and Star Wars Rebel Assault on 3DO.

Demolition Man Sega CD Review – Welcome To The Next Level

Friday, September 17th, 2010

This retro review is for Demolition Man. Not quite what I expected it to be. This is the first time I’ve played the game and it ended up being enjoyable. Though the game is very ugly, horrid sound, bad controlling, bad story. If you can get past all that it’s still a fun game, but still gets a bad rating because of all the other drawbacks to the game. I would have liked to rate this one higher than I did but I just couldn’t bring myself to it.

Classic Game Room HD – SONIC CD review for Sega CD

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Classic Game Room HD reviews SONIC CD for Sega CD from 1993! This awesome side scrolling platformer uses all of the CD’s abilities to deliver awesome music with crystal clear compact disc sound with 1980′s laser beam technology! Sonic CD is widely regarded as one of the best Sonic adventures and once you play it you’ll see why. Solid 2D side scrolling gameplay mixed with a clever future / past system, enormous levels and an endless array of scoring possibilities makes Sonic CD the Sonic game for fans of old school Sonic the Hedgehog videogames. This CGR review of Sonic CD has gameplay from Sonic CD on the Sega Mega Drive with Mega-CD add on showing Sonic CD game play in action. Also available for PC!
